Students in 6M are working diligently to make a lesson plan to teach a math concept to classmates. Some of the topics students have chosen, include:

-multiplication
-prime factorization
-volume, area and perimeter
-probability
-bar graphs

Space Projects Due on May 21

Hi Everyone,





Students in 6M are currently working on Space Projects at home. Students have chosen a Space topic that they would like to research and were given the task of presenting their findings using any format in which they choose. They may design an illustration, write a poem or story, present a drama skit, make a game, etc. The format is entirely up to them. This gives our students the freedom to present a Space topic in a way in which they feel comfortable. Any questions or concerns may be directed to Mr. McNeil's voice mail at the school.

New Book Order Forms Are Here!!!

 

 

Mr. Mueller, our school teacher-librarian, has passed out the new book orders today. Please have a look through them with your child. Remember, all book orders help our school get new books through Scholastic.

Fun With the iPads!

We are very fortunate at Dr. H.D. Taylor Public School to have Apple iPads. With a variety of Apps, students at Taylor can access reading, writing, math and media activities to enhance their learning. Who knew learning could be so fun!

We Love Reading!

Did you know that we enjoy a variety of reading in 6M? Everyday we have some form of Independent, Shared, Guided, Read Aloud, or Buddy reading.

Independent: The student reads a text on his/her own

Shared: The class reads together and follows along with their own copy of the text.

Guided: A small group reads and discusses a text with the teacher.

Read Aloud: The teacher reads the text to the students.

Buddy: A student reads a text with another student.

The benefits of reading are many. Here are a few:

-Enhanced Knowledge

-Reduced Stress

-Increase in Vocabulary

-Improved Analytical Thinking

-Improved Memory

-Improved Writing Skills

-Helps Prioritize Goals

Reading is an activity that should be done at school and at home. Encourage your children to read on a regular basis. Find out what they like. Reading together = great bonding time.
